Thinking of feeding ...
Thinking of feeding the chooks...I was reading Jackie French's book 'Backyard Self Sufficiency' talking about growing staples..wheat etc How the grain mix for chooks, the health food shops and the soup mixes and the like from supermarkets are good sources of grain to grow. Maybe you could throw a few tough seeds around like buckwheat, millet, rye or sunflower seeds from a packet of parrot food.

Are those bullet ...
Are those bullet hole in the tin?

I'm not sure what kind of critters you have in OZ that will kill chickens at night, but I'm sure there must be a few. You might consider plugging the holes you have around the bottom of the coup or you will have break-ins.

Good to see you ...
Good to see you back & cheerful it seems. Nice clear sound on this camera. All you need is two hens & a rooster & let them set eggs. We had a bantam once set 21 eggs. Later you can let roosters sit in a tree outside hen house or just eat them lol. Keep one though! I prefer Rhode Island or Barred Rocks. Tossdart

Looks like you have ...
Looks like you have the ideal property and living quarters for your chickens-- I hope you get some free chickens quickly.

I've ordered some baby chicks--I pick them up on the 4th of May. I need to get on building their coop! I don't think any of it will be free for me, but it's worth the investment. Once the coop is built and the initial investments made, the only costs will be the food. I'm really really excited!

I'm also making a potato garden out of tires real soon! Learned a lot from you!

WOW looks great! ...
WOW looks great! The only thing I would be worried about are outside predators and unfortunate weather conditions. It does look like it may not hold up good against super strong winds. BUT, I've never been to Australia and I don't know how severe weather gets in your area. Here in Michigan, we get winds that rips the siding off our houses!
