is it legal to have a chicken coup with chickens in your back yard if you live in a residential part of the city?

It’s all about zoning and city ordinances. Contact your local zoning inspector and ask them. It’s different everywhere, but most cities consider them livestock and don’t allow them. Some allow a couple of hens, but no roosters.

It depends on your city. Different cities have different codes about what you can and cannot have in your yard, noise levels, etc.
Find your local government homepage and send them an e-mail asking them the local policy.

Good luck! Hope you can have them!

i don’t know if it’s legal but if you a have a fairly small garden you definatly shouldn’t. they need loads of space for dust baths and that.
